The Swiss Confederation is a country that exists in Central Europe and was founded in 1291. It is renowned for it's mountain scenery, banking industry and tradition of political neutrality.

Switzerland did hold a Formula One Grand Prix between 1950-1954, before the 1955 Le Mans Disaster where at least 84 people died and 120 were injured. Since then all forms of powered vehicle racing have been banned in the country. The ban, however, was lifted in 2015 for electric vehicles only, allowing Formula E to compete there.
