Stefan Bellof (born 20 November 1957 in Gießen, Gießen Region, Hesse, West Germany – died 1 September 1985 at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Stavelot, Wallonia, Belgium) was a racing driver from West Germany who competed for two seasons in Formula One in the mid-1980s before his premature death in a Sportscar race.
Considered a major future talent while racing, Bellof set the fastest lap around the 1983 configuration of the Nürburgring's Nordschleife circuit the first year of its usage. Bellof made his F1 début in 1984 with Tyrrell, while also competing in the World Endurance Championship and the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft. While his season with Tyrrell went horribly as the team was disqualified and excluded from every race after breaching the rules, Bellof won both of the other two championships.
Returning with Tyrrell for 1985, Bellof was having a relatively quiet season, having scored four points, before he was killed in a accident with Jacky Ickx at the 1000 km of Spa World Endurance Championship race.
