Russia or, also officially known as the Russian Federation, is a country situated in northern Eurasia, the largest country in the world, and the first country from the former Soviet Union to enter a driver in Formula One when Vitaly Petrov made his debut in 2010. It hosted the inaugural Formula One Russian Grand Prix in 2014, 100 years after the last one was held. Three Russian teams have competed in Formula One; Midland, Virgin and Marussia (Virgin's successor).
Daniil Kvyat, aged 19, made his Formula One debut in 2014, ensuring that the Russian Grand Prix featured a local driver on the grid. Sergey Sirotkin failed to secure a race debut for 2014, and was test driver at Sauber for the same year, then assigned to drive for Williams in 2018.
