George Rice "Joie" Chitwood (born April 14, 1912 in Denison, Grayson County, Texas – died January 3, 1988 in Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida) was a racing driver who competed in the Indianapolis 500. In his final Indy 500, the 1950 race, Chitwood finished fifth in a shared drive with Tony Bettenhausen, scoring one Formula One World Championship point.
