Bernard Charles "Bernie" Ecclestone (born 28 October 1930 in Bungay, Suffolk, England, United Kingdom) is a British businessman who served as Chief Executive Officer of Formula One Management and Formula One Administration for over 40 years. He currently holds the position of Chairman Emeritus following the takeover of Formula One by Liberty Media.

He is one of the key figures currently tasked with the running of the sport. In January 2014 he stepped down from the board of Formula One Group, but maintained day-to-day running of the company.

Prior to his current position within Formula One, Ecclestone drove for the Connaught team (though never qualified) and was team boss and owner for the Brabham team during much of the 1970s and '80s.

Ecclestone considered Lewis Hamilton's overtake to win the World Championship at the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix to be the "most iconic moment in 65 years of F1."[1]
