Despite a good year in 2006, 2007 was a big improvement to the BMW Sauber team. Pre-season testing was very positive to the team, and speculations came that the team would surprise the top teams throughout the season.
The F1.07 was known for one of the biggest crashes in history at the Canadian Grand Prix, when Kubica crashed hard when approaching the hairpin. He was replaced by Sebastian Vettel at the United States Grand Prix.
The F1.07 could only secure two podium finishes at Canada and Hungary, both achieved by Heidfeld. The team originally finished third in the Constructors' Championship, but due to McLaren's exclusion from the standings, they were promoted to second.
