The 24 Hours of Le Mans (French: 24 Heures du Mans) is the world's oldest active endurance sports car race, held since 1923 at the Circuit de la Sarthe near Le Mans in France. Considered to be once of the most prestigious events on the racing calendar, it is part of the Triple Crown of Motorsport. Drivers compete in teams of three over the twenty-four hours in specifically-designed "Le Mans Prototypes" and in GT cars. The race is traditionally held in the middle of June.

Due to its prestige, Formula One drivers typically take part in the event. Jacky Ickx won the race six times, a record that stood until broken by Tom Kristensen in 2005. Derek Bell and Emanuele Pirro both have five wins and Olivier Gendebien, Henri Pescarolo and Yannick Dalmas have four each.

As for constructors, NissanToyota and Porsche currently compete for the full race win (alongside Audi), and Porsche (with seventeen wins) have the most victories. After Audi (fourteen), Ferrari have nine wins (though none since 1965) and Jaguar have seven.

The Circuit de la Sarthe hosted some pre-Championship French Grand Prix races, and the smaller Bugatti Circuit hosted the 1967 French Grand Prix. The first Grand Prix race, the 1906 French Grand Prix, was hosted in Le Mans but not at the Circuit de la Sarthe.
