The First Jerez Test of the 2003 Formula One Season was the first official pre-season test of the new year. The test saw the involvement of the Ferrari, Williams and Renault teams. At this stage of the pre-season testing none of the teams had launched their 2003 chassis and continued to test with their 2002 chassis from the previous season.

Day 1
Williams-BMW were the first team to commence testing in the new year with race driver Ralf Schumacher and test driver Marc Gené being sent to commence testing duties at the Jerez circuit. Between the two drivers, the Williams team was able to complete a total of 124 laps of the circuit in the team's 2002 chassis the FW24.
Day 2
For the second day of the test session, Williams were joined by the Ferrari team who had sent their two test driver's Luca Badoer and Luciano Burti to participate the test session at Jerez. Burti was driving a standard F2002 chassis whilst teammate Badoer drove an interim chassis of the F2002 and their soon to be released 2003 season challenger, the F2003-GA. Badoer would focus on electronic and tyre configurations for the new car, going on to set the fastest time of the day. Burti would set the third fastest time behind the Williams of Ralf Schumacher. Marc Gené would finish the day fourth in the second Williams car.
Day 3
For the third and final day of the test, Ferrari and Williams were joined by the Renault team with race driver's Jarno Trulli and Fernando Alonso being sent to participate. Trulli would only drive for eight laps in the session, shaking down an interim chassis of the team's 2003 challenger, the R23. Teammate Alonso would however participate much more extensively, driving a 2002 R202 chassis for most of the day, focussing on suspension development. However it would be Luca Badoer and Ferrari who would end the day and the test as the quickest, Badoer consistently being the fastest driver in the interim Ferrari chassis.
