The 1991 Jordan season was Jordan's 1st season as a constructor. Founded by former driver Eddie Jordan, this team had five different drivers during the year. This season also saw the racing debut of future World Champion Michael Schumacher for this team in the Belgian Grand Prix.

This race saw Gachot set fastest lap with a time of :21.547 on lap 71.

Belgian Grand Prix[]

Following the arrest of Bertrand Gachot, the team chose young German Michael Schumacher to make his debut for them. His race was short lived, as the clutch failed. de Cesaris retired with engine failure with three laps to go, but was classified 11th.

Italian Grand Prix[]

There was controversy before the Italian Grand Prix at the Monza Autodrome near Milan as Schumacher signed a deal with Benetton which displeased Jordan who went to court. The court decided in favour of Benetton because Jordan had not signed a contract with Schumacher previously. Thus Schumacher and Moreno swapped teams.
